A new rooster, custom typefaces, a shared design language for all national teams: shortly after unveiling Zidane, the French federation presents a new visual identity for the Équipes de France.
Barely has Zinédine Zidane been unveiled as the new head coach, the French football federation follows up: the FFF has presented a new visual identity for its national teams, featuring a redesigned rooster, custom typefaces and a shared design language for all national sides.
The timing is deliberate. The federation itself speaks of a new sporting cycle: Zidane takes charge of the men's national team for the next four years, while the federation is simultaneously preparing for the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup in Brazil. The new look is meant to accompany this new chapter.
France's Gallic rooster: redrawn for the start of the Zidane era
The Gallic rooster itself has been reworked, more assertive and distinctive than before, with what the federation describes as a conquering attitude. The new design draws on historical depictions that have accompanied France's national teams since the 1920s, translating them into a contemporary form. Also new is the visible connection between the rooster and the word FRANCE.
Behind it lies a practical goal: the national teams' logo and the rooster worn on the shirts are meant to be brought closer together, for more consistency across all channels.
One design for all French national teams
The new identity will apply to all national teams of France going forward. Each side will carry the same emblem, complemented by a specific marker to identify the team in question. The colour palette builds on the historic colours blue, white, red and gold, expanded with new shades of blue and a pale yellow. Custom-developed typefaces complete the system.
„The new rooster stands in that continuity, with a more assertive, identity-driven design meant to strengthen the lifestyle and cultural dimension of the brand," says François Vasseur, marketing director of the FFF.
The new look will be rolled out gradually across all of the federation's channels. Accompanying the launch are a film on the design process and a piece tracing the history of the Équipe de France logo over time.
