What links a Munich luxury label with FC Bayern? As MCM celebrates its 50th anniversary, football history, fashion and shared Bavarian roots come together.
Munich, 1976. In May, Bayern Munich win the European Cup in Glasgow for the third year running. That same year, a new luxury brand is founded in the city: MCM, short for Modern Creation München. It positions itself as an alternative to traditional luxury.

Its signature motif still reflects those roots. According to MCM, the Visetos monogram was created alongside the brand itself. In its best-known version, it sets the MCM logo on a cognac base alongside diamonds inspired by the Bavarian flag – the same diamonds that appear in Bayern Munich’s crest. Fifty years later, monogram and crest appear on the same bags. To mark the fashion house’s anniversary, MCM, FC Bayern and adidas have developed a joint capsule collection.
How adidas, FC Bayern and MCM Bring Visetos, the Crest and Three Stripes Together
At the heart of the collection are two bags, the Ottomar Weekender and the Brandenburg Backpack. Both carry the Visetos monogram in cognac, along with the Bayern Munich crest and cream leather trim.
Adidas provides the apparel, with the adidas Originals Trefoil logo on the jackets and jerseys. The brand takes its classic tracksuit silhouette and pairs the three stripes with MCM’s motifs. The range includes jerseys in unisex and women’s cuts, full-zip track jackets, wide-leg track pants and joggers. The collection also includes a version of the Mundial Team football boot in cognac with white stripes.

The collection has been available worldwide since 22 October, two days after it was unveiled at an event in Munich. It is available at FC Bayern World in Munich, adidas stores across Europe, Japan and South Korea, and MCM stores worldwide, as well as through the online shops of FC Bayern, adidas and MCM.
From Munich to Tokyo: A Campaign Shot on the FC Bayern Women’s Tour
The focus on bags and backpacks reflects the partnership behind the collection. Since July, MCM has been the official luggage partner of FC Bayern Women, equipping the players for their travels.

The campaign was shot in Tokyo, the first stop on FC Bayern Women’s summer tour. The images show the collection against a backdrop of traditional Japanese architecture and gardens.
The first products Michael Cromer designed for the brand in Munich in 1976 were travel pieces.
