Has Nike Found Its New Star in Michael Olise?

Michael Olise has always gone his own way when choosing his boots. Now the Bayern winger is reported to have reached an agreement with Nike and to be lined up for a central role in the return of the Hypervenom.

Michael Olise has a particular taste for football boots that have long since gone out of production. While most professionals take to the pitch in the latest models from their supplier, the 24-year-old prefers the Nike Hypervenom Phantom III. The third generation of the line came out in 2017; a year later, Nike discontinued the series.

Olise stayed loyal to it all the same. The France international tracks down older pairs and has some of them customised, at times matching the colours of his boots to the kits of the teams he plays for.

Michael Olise and His Custom Hypervenom Boots

At the 2026 World Cup, he wore, among others, a Hypervenom designed by the artist Matt Digiacomo, better known as Matty Boy. At Bayern Munich, too, Olise has turned heads with customised pairs.

His independence is what made this possible. Unlike many other leading international players, Olise has not been tied to a sportswear brand in recent years, leaving him free to decide for himself which boots he wears.

A New Ambassador for Nike

That now looks set to change. According to Footy Headlines, Nike has agreed a boot deal with Michael Olise.

The news comes only weeks after Kylian Mbappé ended an association of around two decades with Nike and moved to the Swiss brand On.

Neither Nike nor Olise has officially confirmed the partnership so far, and there is no reliable information on the length of the contract or its financial terms.

The Possible Return of the Hypervenom

According to Footy Headlines, Nike plans to discontinue its current Phantom line in 2027 and bring the Hypervenom back as a standalone boot series. Olise is said to have a central role in the plans and to become the face of the relaunch.

That would put the Bayern winger in a position once held by Neymar. The Brazilian was among the best-known ambassadors of the Hypervenom when Nike first introduced the line in 2013.

A possible preview of the new generation came as early as June 2026, when Olise was spotted in training wearing an all-white, as yet unreleased boot. Footy Headlines initially linked the prototype to a new product line called “The Nike Boots”. In its latest report, the site attributes it to the planned Hypervenom relaunch.

Whether Nike will actually replace the entire Phantom line, and what technical features the new Hypervenom will have, has not been officially announced.

Should the reports prove accurate, Olise would end up representing the very boot line he has stayed loyal to for years without any contractual obligation.
