Three Special Shirts to Mark 25 Years of Bayern and Telekom?

Edit: SUPERSUB

Deutsche Telekom has been on the front of Bayern Munich’s shirts for almost 25 years. To mark the anniversary, adidas could bring back a shirt from the partnership’s very first season. It may not be the only special edition.

For 13 years, Opel’s name sat on the front of Bayern Munich’s shirts. In summer 2002, Deutsche Telekom took its place, initially with its mobile brand, T-Mobile. Almost 25 years on, one of those shirts could be making a comeback.

According to Footy Headlines, a site specialising in kit leaks, adidas could release three special shirts for the partnership’s 25th anniversary. Two of them reportedly revisit the white-and-grey away shirt Bayern wore in 2002/03 and 2003/04. A new shirt in Telekom’s colours is also said to be on the way.

Bayern, Telekom and adidas have yet to confirm the plans.

Three Special Shirts for the 25th Anniversary

The original away shirt was white, with the V-neck, the cuffs and the three adidas stripes across the shoulders picked out in grey. Most of the colour came from the sponsor: the T in the T-Mobile wordmark was magenta.

Footy Headlines reports that adidas plans a faithful remake of the shirt, alongside a blackout version. Both are expected in early 2027.

The new Telekom shirt, meanwhile, is reportedly planned for the current 2026/27 season. It is said to feature a white base with magenta accents. The final design and release date have yet to be revealed, and it remains unclear whether the special shirts will only go on sale or also be worn in matches.

On Bayern’s Shirts Since 2002

In their first season with Telekom, Bayern won the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal double under Ottmar Hitzfeld.

The name on the front changed several times over the following years, sometimes within a single season. In 2003/04, the European shirt already carried T-Com, while the home and away shirts still bore T-Mobile. From 2004/05, T-Com appeared on all three; in 2007/08, T-Home replaced it. In 2009/10, all three shirts advertised LIGA total!, Telekom’s Bundesliga service.

From 2010/11, the home and European shirts carried the T, while LIGA total! stayed on the away shirt until 2012/13. Since 2013/14, the Telekom T has featured on the regular home, away and European shirts.

With Telekom as main sponsor, Bayern won the Champions League in 2013 and 2020.

In August 2025, Bayern and Deutsche Telekom agreed to extend their sponsorship deal ahead of schedule, through to 2032. That would take the partnership to 30 years.
