Adidas and Real Madrid are reissuing the club’s 2014/15 third shirt, designed by Yohji Yamamoto for Y-3. A dragon on charcoal grey, a white Henley collar and the original “Fly Emirates” branding: the reissue stays close to the shirt it is based on.
In the summer of 2014, Real Madrid had just won La Décima, their long-awaited tenth European Cup. For the new season, Yohji Yamamoto designed the club’s third shirt – the start of Real Madrid’s collaboration with Y-3. A dragon stretched across the front. Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, Gareth Bale, Pepe and Toni Kroos were among the players who wore the shirt during the 2014/15 season. Pepe and Kroos also appear in the campaign for the reissue.

Twelve years on, adidas and Real Madrid are bringing it back in short- and long-sleeved versions, alongside a matching jacket and track pants. The collection has been on sale since 5 November 2026 at selected adidas stores, from the adidas online store, in Real Madrid’s official stores and from the club’s online shop.
Yohji Yamamoto and Y-3: When High Fashion Met Football
Long before that collaboration, Yohji Yamamoto was an established name in Paris fashion, known for loose, asymmetric silhouettes and a devotion to black. In the early 2000s he launched Y-3 with adidas, a label that brought sportswear and designer fashion together.
At Real Madrid, that taste for dark colours met a club known as Los Blancos. Their third shirt for 2014/15 was charcoal grey.
Real Madrid’s Dragon Shirt: What the Reissue Keeps
The reissue follows the original. The dragon spreads across the charcoal front in shades of grey, and part of the graphic reappears low on the back. White accents come from the Henley collar with its button placket, the club crest, the adidas logo and the stripes on the shoulders and upper back. The “Fly Emirates” branding returns as it appeared on the chest in 2014. The long-sleeved version has black cuffs and carries the stripes down the forearms as well.

According to Real Madrid, the two-headed dragon draws on Eastern symbolism of strength, ambition and power, and stands for the prestige of those who wear the shirt. The bird motif represents agility and the drive to succeed.
In 2014, the shirt was meant for a single season. Real Madrid now counts it among the most sought-after collectible football pieces of the 21st century.
