Skechers Goes Gold for Harry Kane’s Historic Season

Skechers

Harry Kane has won the Ballon d’Or, and his boot supplier Skechers is marking it with a special edition in white and gold. The number of pairs reflects Kane’s goal tally – an idea Skechers has used before.

In the summer of 2023, Harry Kane’s move to Bayern Munich was not the only change he made. After years with Nike, the England striker also switched boot supplier and joined Skechers, an American footwear company which launched its first football boots just weeks later.

Three years on, Kane has won football’s most prestigious individual award, the first Englishman to lift the Ballon d’Or since Michael Owen in 2001. Skechers is celebrating with a special edition of its current boot, the SKX_2.

73 Goals, 73 Pairs of SKX_2 for Harry Kane

The number 73 sits at the heart of the “Mark of Greatness” campaign. That is how many goals Kane scored in the 2025-26 season, in 65 games for Bayern and England. Since the turn of the millennium, only Lionel Messi has bettered that tally among players from Europe’s top five leagues, scoring 82 times for Barcelona and Argentina in 2011-12. Skechers has built the special edition around Kane’s total: 73 numbered pairs of the SKX_2, one for each goal.

It is a familiar idea for Skechers. In his first season at Bayern, Kane scored 36 Bundesliga goals and finished as Europe’s top scorer. In August 2024, the US manufacturer followed with a gold edition of the SKX_01, limited to 36 pairs.

The new edition is white with gold accents. Skechers is selling the 73 pairs through selected specialist football retailers and says the design will not be reissued once they sell out. Kane himself receives a one-off pair covered in real gold leaf. Skechers describes it as “the world’s most expensive wearable football boot”.

Signet Ring, Film and Book: Skechers’ Campaign for Harry Kane

The campaign also includes a gold signet ring that Skechers commissioned for Kane from the British jeweller Deakin & Francis. An accompanying film follows a goldsmith as he puts the finishing touches on the ring. There is also a collector’s book documenting all 73 goals of the season.

The ring bears an emblem Skechers designed specifically for Kane: an English lion holding a key, alongside Kane’s initials and the number 73.
