TSV 1860 and Societas unveil the home kit for a new beginning

After forced relegation to the fourth division, TSV 1860 Munich present their new home kit, featuring the historic FA crest and a fan message on the back made possible through crowdfunding.

TSV 1860 Munich have unveiled the home kit for the 2026/27 season together with their new kit supplier Societas. The club itself calls it the shirt of the fresh start, and the name is meant literally: the Lions take to the pitch after forced relegation to the Regionalliga Bayern, with the club's e.V. once again running first-team football.

A fresh start in the fourth tier: the background to the new TSV 1860 kit

The background: in early June, TSV 1860 failed to secure their licence for the 3. Liga after being unable to provide proof of liquidity worth 2.7 million euros. According to the club, an unfulfilled funding pledge from shareholder Hasan Ismaik was the cause. The professional entity's insolvency followed, along with the drop to the fourth tier.

There's a notable twist after 15 years under investor ownership: the first team now returns under the roof of the club itself. Supporters' response was clear. Rather than leaving in numbers, the club reported a record membership of around 29,000 during the relegation summer, and fans raised more than 341,000 euros through a crowdfunding campaign.

FA crest, freedom for Sechzig, a fan message: what's on the new TSV 1860 kit

Much of that story is reflected in the new home kit. The chest carries the crest of the football department, which first appeared in 1919 and has been part of the club's history for more than 100 years.

The reason the familiar lion isn't there has legal roots: marketing rights to the lion crest sit with the insolvent professional entity, which has licensed them to an Ismaik-owned merchandise company until 2031. The club is therefore doing without its best-known symbol for now, turning instead to the FA crest, which has long been established within the fanbase anyway.

DIALOG Versicherungen joins as the new main sponsor, under the guiding idea of “Freiheit für Sechzig” (freedom for Sechzig).

On the back sits “Football for the People”, funded by that very same crowdfunding campaign. Thousands of supporters from Germany and around the world ensured that the message becomes permanently visible. The fans, who normally stand behind the team, now symbolically stand on its back too.

For kit supplier Societas, it's something of a full circle: the Munich-based design studio started out with membership shirts for the TSV 1860 e.V., went on to shape Werder Bremen's new visual identity, and now returns to the Lions as official kit supplier.

The home kit will be worn in the club's opening competitive matches of the season, with the away and third kits to follow shortly. Sales are expected to begin soon via the e.V.'s fan shop.
