Arsenal brings back iconic '90s lightning bolt pattern on new third kit

Gunners yellow is back after five seasons: Arsenal and adidas unveil the new third kit with a reinterpretation of the legendary lightning bolt pattern from the '90s.

Arsenal hadn't worn yellow for five seasons, now it's back. Arsenal and adidas have unveiled the new third kit for the 2026/27 season, bringing back a colour tied to some of the club's most memorable chapters, alongside a pattern every fan recognises instantly: the lightning bolt.

It's the first kit of a new era: the men start the season as English champions, while Arsenal Women enter it as winners of the inaugural FIFA Women's Champions Cup.

Lightning bolt and yellow: the design of Arsenal's new third kit

The lightning bolt pattern first appeared on an Arsenal shirt in 1994 and has stayed etched in fans' memories ever since. For this new edition, it's engineered directly into the fabric, a subtle, contemporary take on the classic over a light yellow base. The adidas logo, cannon crest and three stripes appear in navy, joined by burgundy accents on the collar and cuffs.

Technically, adidas relies on its latest CLIMACOOL+ generation and lightweight engineered fabrics. Navy shorts and socks with gold and burgundy detailing complete the away look.

Arsenal State of Mind: the campaign behind the new kit

Launching alongside the kit is “Arsenal State of Mind,” the club's first-ever animated kit film, directed by Fx Goby and produced by Nexus Studios. The idea behind it: a mindset shaped by generations of players, supporters and communities who believe in doing things differently and creating memories that last.

Alongside Arsenal supporter Adwoa Aboah, the film features players Noni Madueke, Steph Catley and Martin Zubimendi. It weaves together north London locations with moments from the club's history, celebrating what connects Arsenal supporters across generations and borders.

The new third kit is available now via the online stores of Arsenal and adidas.
