Atlético Madrid and Nike unveil the new 2026/27 home kit – red and white stripes, a navy V-neck and a detail that fans of the club will immediately recognise.
In the red stripes of Atlético Madrid and Nike's new home kit hides a trident. A deliberate reference to the Neptune Fountain on the Plaza de Cánovas del Castillo in Madrid. The fountain is the place where the club traditionally celebrates its greatest achievements. For the fans, Neptune is the symbol of their greatest moments.
The story behind it is older than many think. Originally, Atlético's fans celebrated their titles at the Cibeles Fountain. It all started with the 1962 European Cup Winners' Cup.
When Real Madrid claimed the Cibeles in the late 1980s, the Atlético fans moved on. In 1991, after winning the Copa del Rey final – held, of all places, at the Bernabéu – they gathered for the first time at the Neptune Fountain, just 500 metres south of the Cibeles.
The 1996 Double cemented it as the sacred ground of Atlético fans. Ever since, the captain has attached the Atleti flag to the trident of the sea god after major triumphs.

The red and white stripes are at the heart of Atlético's identity. They have accompanied the club through highs and lows, through titles and difficult years, through Champions League finals and relegation battles. The red and white kits have been the club's unmistakable symbol for generations.
The new kit continues this tradition and adds the trident, hidden within the stripe, visible only to those who look closely.
The kit combines red and white with a dark navy at the V-neck as well as on the sleeves, shorts and socks. Nike officially calls the shade “Deep Loyal Blue”, the same colour used for the 2022/23 away kit.
It is a reminder of where this club celebrates – and where it wants to celebrate again.
