RB Leipzig's New Champions League Kit Is Inspired by Nightlife

RB Leipzig is returning to the Champions League – and brings along a kit that reinterprets its home city after dark. Why Leipzig's nightlife became the design motif.

After a year's absence from Europe's elite competition, RB Leipzig return to the Champions League for the 2026/27 season. A day before the league-phase draw, the Saxons present their new kit for the competition together with kit supplier PUMA.

The third kit for the new season differs clearly from the white home kit with red pinstripes and the bright red away kit with yellow accents. The multicoloured print on the chest and sleeves is, according to the club, inspired by Leipzig's nightlife. The bold colours sit on a darker base and stretch across much of the front.

For its Champions League kit, RB Leipzig doesn't draw on a historical moment or a classic club motif. Instead, the city after dark serves as the starting point for the design.

How Leipzig's Nightlife Became the Motif for the Champions League Kit

The connection fits the competition the kit was designed for. Champions League matches take place almost exclusively in the evening. RB Leipzig doesn't translate that connection through specific clubs, venues or individual elements of Leipzig's nightlife scene. Instead, the reference stays abstract, conveyed mainly through colour and print.

The printed RB Leipzig and Red Bull logos sit on the chest, with the PUMA logo alongside. The back carries the “RB Leipzig” lettering. The kit is made of 100 percent polyester. Under PUMA's RE:FIBRE programme, at least 95 percent of that comes from recycled textile waste and other used materials.

New Coach, New Draw: What's Next for RB Leipzig

Which eight opponents the team of new head coach Martín Demichelis will be drawn against in the league phase will be decided at the draw on August 27 in Monaco. Leipzig will play four of their eight matches at home.

The new kit, then, is designed specifically for the nights the club missed out on last season. The kit has been available since August 26 at the Red Bull Shop, in RBL stores and via PUMA.
