Augsburg's Third Shirt Pays Tribute to the City's Textile History

After Roman roots and Augsburg's water heritage, FC Augsburg dedicate their third shirt to the city once again. This time, the trail leads into the textile district – and to a building whose façade resurfaces in the fabric.

First marble, then water, now fabric: FC Augsburg and Mizuno have completed their three shirts for the 2026/27 season. The third shirt is red, green and white – and references Augsburg's past as a major centre of the textile industry.

This continues what began with the marble-effect home shirt. There, “Augusta Vindelicum”, marble and details referencing Augsburg's Zirbelnuss emblem nod to the city's Roman roots. The away shirt then put Augsburg's water heritage centre stage; FCA player Han-Noah Massengo photographed the campaign himself at the Wolfzahnau.

From Augsburg's Weberhaus to the FCA Shirt

With the third shirt, the reference to Augsburg goes beyond the colour choice alone. The jacquard fabric features a woven check pattern with a raised, textured finish. FCA cite Augsburg's Weberhaus as the template. The building on Moritzplatz traces back to the weavers' guild house; historical records held by the city archive document the connection to the weaving trade as far back as the 15th century.

Dark green trim on the collar and sleeves contrasts with the red base colour. The crew neck features a button, with the FCA crest and Mizuno logo embroidered in white. The partner logos also appear in white. “1907” is printed on the back of the neck, “FC Augsburg” across the back.

The historical reference extends beyond the Weberhaus itself. For decades, Augsburg was one of the key centres of the German textile industry. At its peak, according to FCA, more than 20,000 people worked across roughly two dozen large, internationally active factories, along with numerous smaller businesses. To this day, the former industrial district east of the old town still carries the name Textilviertel.

Back at the Loom for the Shirt Campaign

The presentation, too, stayed true to the theme. The shoot took place at the Staatliches Textil- und Industriemuseum Augsburg, known as tim. Fabrics were specially produced there on the museum's looms for the shoot and then became part of the staging.

With that, FCA link their three shirts this season through a shared principle, without telling the same story three times over. The home shirt looks back at Roman Augsburg, the away shirt at the importance of water to the city. The third shirt now turns to Augsburg's industrial and craft history.

The shirt is set to make its on-pitch debut in the Bundesliga away match against Werder Bremen. It is available now from FC Augsburg's online shop.
