Manchester City take the kit launch to a new level

A floating pitch in Hong Kong harbour, 1,500 fans, tickets gone in minutes: Manchester City and PUMA unveil the new away kit, built around the Manchester bee.

Manchester City and PUMA have unveiled the new away kit for the 2026/27 season, and the setting is unlikely to be matched anywhere else this kit season: it was revealed on a floating pitch in Hong Kong's Victoria Harbour, in front of more than 1,500 City fans. Tickets for the event sold out within minutes.

The kit was presented by Manchester City stars Phil Foden, Abdukodir Khusanov and Ryan McAidoo, as part of the club's preseason tour of Asia.

Floating pitch in Victoria Harbour: how City's Hong Kong launch went down

Despite stormy weather, the evening turned into a party: fans, community teams and former goalkeeper Scott Carson took turns on the five-a-side pitch on the water, a DJ played City favourites, and the FA Cup and Carabao Cup trophies were on display. Fans also got a first look at the new preseason font, designed by Hong Kong-based creative duo Offgod:Tate.

“The kit is something special, so I'm looking forward to wearing it this season,” Foden said during the on-stage Q&A. Its on-pitch debut comes fast: the kit makes its first appearance on 1 August in Hong Kong against Inter Milan, before City continue their Asia tour in Seoul.

The Manchester bee: the city's symbol as kit motif

The kit comes in black and yellow, covered in a swarm of worker bees. The Manchester bee is one of the city's best-known symbols, representing graft, unity and resilience, and it was a fixture on the streets of Manchester long before it appeared on a football shirt.

The bee is also a protected symbol of the city: Manchester City and PUMA worked closely with Manchester City Council to ensure its use. The away kit is part of a full collection under the “Built for This City” identity, including the Prematch, Travel, King and Culture lines.

The Authentic jersey is built with PUMA's ULTRAWEAVE fabric and made with at least 50% recycled material. The Replica version uses RE:FIBRE technology, made from 95% recycled polyester sourced from textile waste.

The new away kit is available now at Manchester City's online store, official stores, and at PUMA.
