Kylian Mbappé features on the Ultimate Edition cover of EA Sports FC 27. Four years after his last cover appearance, the Real Madrid forward returns to the front of the football game.
EA Sports has unveiled Kylian Mbappé as the cover athlete for the Ultimate Edition of EA Sports FC 27. The France international also appears on the cover of EA Sports FC Mobile. It is his first cover appearance since the former FIFA series continued under the EA Sports FC name.
The role is hardly new to Mbappé. His face previously appeared on FIFA 21, FIFA 22 and FIFA 23. He now returns after a World Cup in which the Real Madrid forward finished as the tournament’s top scorer. EA’s choice therefore falls on a player who had a decisive impact on the competition.
Kylian Mbappé returns to the cover of EA Sports FC 27
Mbappé was already closely associated with the game series during his time at Paris Saint-Germain. He appeared on the cover for three consecutive years. On FIFA 23, he shared the Ultimate Edition cover with Sam Kerr.
EA Sports FC 27 now marks Mbappé’s first cover appearance under the series’ new name. EA’s decision to turn to him again is hardly surprising. Mbappé has been one of the world’s most recognisable footballers for years and returns from a tournament that further strengthened his standing.
Gabriel Moses photographs Mbappé for EA Sports FC 27
Mbappé was photographed by Gabriel Moses. The British-Nigerian photographer and filmmaker from South London is known for portraits shaped by dark tones, strong contrasts and carefully controlled lighting. His images often feel restrained, physical and almost cinematic.
The new cover also moves away from the conventions of traditional sports advertising. The image feels closer to a fashion editorial than a conventional player portrait. Moses presents Mbappé not only as a footballer, but as one of the defining public figures of his generation.
