Nike teases first Germany kit

Nike offered a first glimpse of Germany's upcoming kit around their final World Cup group game against Ecuador – with a guerrilla campaign on the Hudson River.

A boat on the Hudson River, a pixelated shirt, a wordplay: “Hallo New Jersey.” Nike offered a first glimpse of Germany's upcoming DFB kit around their final group game against Ecuador. A billboard boat moved from Staten Island towards Manhattan – past the Statue of Liberty, up to the skyline of New York. On it: a large-format photo of Jamal Musiala in the upcoming Germany kit by Nike.

The shirt is white, features a black round collar and carries the Nike Swoosh and DFB crest. It was not shown in full, however: name and number are pixelated, because Nike is not yet allowed to officially reveal the shirt. Germany are still wearing adidas at this World Cup – the contract with the Herzogenaurach-based company runs until the end of 2026. From January 1, 2027, Nike officially takes over as Germany's kit supplier.

The design of the new shirt is reminiscent of the 1974 World Cup kit, with which Franz Beckenbauer and co. claimed the title in Munich – classic white, black round collar, clean lines.

Musiala, Götze, Achraf: Nike goes for reach

Mario Götze and creator Achraf appeared in the Nike spot and shared the pixelated shirt on Instagram. Achraf also wore it inside the stadium for the match against Ecuador – in the stands of MetLife Stadium, in front of thousands of fans.

The action on the Hudson is part of Nike's “Universe of Football” campaign for the World Cup 2026 – a programme the brand is building over twelve weeks, encompassing spots, events, shoes and drops. An early hint at the DFB partnership had already come with the Nike spot “Rip the Script”, in which Musiala appeared in a white-and-black Nike shirt.

From 2027, Nike will kit out the German national team – until 2034. The US company is reportedly set to pay the DFB around 100 million euros per year. With the boat on the Hudson, the new shirt made its first public appearance. Find out more at Nike.com.
