Cut-open socks, two-tone laces: Ismael Saibari is turning heads at Bayern Munich. A closer look at his style.
Ismael Saibari didn't need long to stand out at the Bundesliga season opener against Stuttgart. The attacking player, who moved from PSV Eindhoven to Bayern Munich over the summer, came on after around an hour and set up the final two goals in the 5-1 win.
His socks caught attention too. Saibari cuts large holes into them around the calves. The reason is a practical one: “It's about making sure it's not too tight around my socks, because I've got thick calves,” he explained.

Saibari is in good company here. Numerous professionals cut holes into their socks around the calf area, including Jude Bellingham. The holes are meant to reduce the pressure tight match socks put on the calves.
After the final whistle, the next detail caught the eye, this time on Saibari's feet. The 25-year-old was wearing a Fragment x Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 Low in “Sail/Military Blue”, with differently coloured laces. Asked about the look, he first reacted with a laugh: “Don't you like it?” His explanation afterwards was fairly simple: “That's the new style, I like that.”
How Saibari Describes His Style
Saibari had already made clear that he's into clothing before his move to Munich. “Street with a touch of classic,” is how he described his style in an interview with Life After Football.
In everyday life, he said, he prefers oversized clothing because it feels more comfortable. For special occasions, he reaches for a more classic look, such as neat trousers, a polo shirt and a jacket. Sneakers and fragrances, he added, are important to him too.
That mix is visible on his Instagram account. Loose silhouettes and streetwear are as much a part of his looks as standout sneakers and designer pieces. In between, Saibari also appears in noticeably more classic combinations.
With his first big paycheck, he treated himself to a pair of Louis Vuitton Skate sneakers in beige and white. The shoes remain something special to him to this day, which is why he rarely wears them.
At Bayern Munich, Saibari Meets More Fashion Fans
With his interest in fashion, Saibari isn't entering an entirely new world in Munich. Bayern's squad already includes several players known for their personal style and interest in fashion, among them Serge Gnabry, Jamal Musiala and Michael Olise.
Saibari brings his own take: oversized, streetwear, with a touch of classic in between.
