Most stars wore pink football boots at the 2026 World Cup – except Ferran Torres. On the model in which Spain's forward made history.
Pink was the boot colour of the World Cup 2026. Nearly every brand independently landed on similar bright shades of pink, and most of the tournament's stars wore them. Of all things, the decisive goal of the entire tournament came in completely different colours.
Under Armour against the trend: Nearly every brand went pink
The trend ran through almost the entire industry: Nike athletes like Kylian Mbappé and Erling Haaland wore pink and fuchsia tones just as much as adidas star Jude Bellingham and Skechers athlete Harry Kane, each under its own brand name, yet barely distinguishable from one another.
Only a few players deviated, among them Lionel Messi in a light-blue F50 Último Tango by adidas, matching Argentina's kit colours. Cristiano Ronaldo initially began the tournament in Nike's pink Breakout pack, before temporarily switching to a gold Mercurial special edition along the way.
Ferran Torres scores World Cup winner in this Under Armour model
Under Armour was among the brands that didn't follow the trend. Ferran Torres scored the 1-0 in the final against Argentina in the 106th minute of extra time, in the Under Armour Shadow Elite 4 Mach, in bold orange, yellow and dark green. It was the only goal of the match and made Spain world champions.

Shortly after, Under Armour posted a photo of Torres' boots, taken at the moment of the winning goal. The caption: „The boots of a champion don't come in pink.“ A jab at the competition, most of which had gone almost entirely pink, and a clever marketing move that landed at exactly the right moment.
For Torres himself, the goal places him in select company: He is only the fourth player in World Cup history to score the solitary goal in a 1-0 final, after Andreas Brehme in 1990, Andrés Iniesta in 2010 and Mario Götze in 2014.
